The light from the fire on the trolls face is well done as are the shadows, great work! :)

Nicely done especially on the lineworks for the shadows there, I think if you use different thickness it will make this piece to pop up more. I like the composition of it and having the 3 trolls there as the main focus.
I remember this scene and like it a lot :)

Thanks mate. I've been looking at other peoples art work here, including yours:D and trying to learn technique.
Some very talented artist here. I always liked this part of the Hobbit book and how Frodo and company came back to find the stone trolls in the Fellowship novel. I think I made the trolls to small though. :)

Looking at other people works is good way to pick up on the methods and it also gives you ideas but I did not expect that you would also be looking at my works, thanks Chris, I feel honored.
True there are really some powerhouse artist over here and I've seen some of them and was amazed by their works. I have to read up a bit on the lotr cos I've been toying with the idea of drawing some of them:)
I admit getting the scale right is quite the difficult task initially, but over time you get the hang of it and could composed them in such away that makes those trolls larger. It's something that I'm learning though.

$70! bloody hell I didn't see that part mate. I just meant to check out is art style. If you want to buy it I think I saw used editions of Amazon for a few dollars. I never buy new books I hit up the second hand shops.:)
I tried reading the Similrillan but to be honest I couldn't follow it. :dizzy: remake

Haha no worries mate, I'm just surprised as well cos looking at the art I thought it couldn't be $70. I didn't know the prints can be made for resale though. ^^ There isn't much 2nd hand bookstore anymore in my country. Even big bookstore closed down. Most people just get their books and anything else online. Furthermore, I'm trying to not add more stuff into my room :p
Guess now I'm curious to know about it but from what I heard its universe is more vast than lot, making lotr just like the tip of an iceberg. :p How the heck did Tolkien wrote up such a vast universe? XD

I understand that books are becoming somewhat obsolete.
I like them non the less. I also know about adding clutter to
your room. ;) I think the Hobbit novel will make a very nice
introduction to the world of Tolkien. How he came up with such
a place I'm not sure but I do have my own ideas. He was a professor
of language and literature so maybe the writing came natural to him.
Plus he lived in England where its bloody cold half of the year and
unfit to be outside so I imagine he spent many a day sitting by the
fire smoking his pipe and letting his imagination wander. ;)

Dzul I think you are one of the most talented artist I've seen here.
I like that you try different styles and how you experiment with perspective.
If you decide on doing a lotr project I recommend you read the Hobbit novel to start.
It's fun and a fairly quick read. I might be bias, my mom used to read it to me when I was small.
I didn't care for the Hobbit movies at all. I felt like I was watching a commercial for a video
game. I appreciate all you advice and input on my art work. Cheers mate! :)

Thanks Chris for the compliments, there is still a long way to go and I haven't been painting for years so kinda rusty with the whole art thing but I do appreciates the compliment.
Someone recommended to me to read up on Silmarillion and I'm thinking of trying to paint some of the character there though not sure if 'm able to pulled it off XD
I should have to pick up on The Hobbit as well next time I visit the local lib.
I've only seen the movie and reading from what you wrote, there's probably more to it than what the movie shown.
Me too Chris , appreciates all your comments and support for my works. Cheers. :)
